Nick Lachey and wife Vanessa are preparing for their worlds to get a whole lot crazier pretty soon: Baby Camden is crawling and trying to walk!
When we caught up with Nick recently at the NYC launch of Wendy's #PretzelLoveSongs campaign in honor of the chain's new Pretzel Bacon Cheeseburger, he told Wetpaint Moms that 10-month-old Camden is definitely getting more mobile.
“He stands all the time — he pulls himself up and he stands,” said Nick. “He kind of does this monkey crawl, where he’s on his feet and hands. But he hasn’t actually walked. He’s definitely trying though!”
And when it does happen, Nick knows that everything will change.
“It’s going to get a lot more interesting!” he said. “We’re going to have to get the house childproofed for one thing. Even now, when he’s crawling, you can’t take your eyes off of him for one second. He’s so curious, which I love — but you can’t take your eyes off him. So when he starts walking, I know it will be a great moment, but I’m sure I’ll start missing the days when he couldn’t run around out of our sight.”
Nick, who has been on tour with 98 Degrees this summer, is still in awe of how much fatherhood has impacted everything he does.
“You view every decision, every circumstance differently when you have a little guy to consider,” he told Wetpaint Moms. “I don’t think I was fully prepared for how unilaterally it changes everything — but in an awesome way. I love the fact that it does that. It’s a great thing.”
So great that he’s ready for more kids? Not so fast! While the doting parents are definitely planning to add to their family — Vanessa recently told us “There’s always plans!” — Nick says he’d like the kids to have a bit of an age difference.
“We definitely want more kids, but my brother and I are three years apart and I think that’s a cool age gap to have between siblings. You’re separate enough to have your own identities, but close enough that you can relate to each other. So we’ll give it maybe another year or so… as if I can plan these things out!”
